This work documents the process of the living sculpture growing at the Marineterrein as it develops, sharing the energy transfer and input by capturing it via a thermal imaging camera.

The word ‘radical’ in itself comes from ‘root’: from the late Latin radicalis and radic-, radix, meaning "root." The earliest uses of radical are indeed all about literal roots, stemming from the meaning of ‘relating to’, or ‘proceeding from’ a root.

It is appropriate as climate changes and burnout culture is rife that we move from fast-moving travel, unsustainable busy-ness and short-lived commodities to slower projects rooted in community to connect people to nature and each other, to form roots and bonds. As a slow timelapse snapshot of a cultivating process, this work acknowledges the time, effort and importance of a slow, social, regenerative practice.
